METRAC is part of a collaboration led by the Women and HIV/AIDS Initiative and Springtide Resources that seeks to strengthen connections between AIDS service and violence against women organizations in Toronto. Below is a description of an event we’re planning to help build greater understanding of the issues.
Event: HIV and Gender-Based Violence: What Does the Law Say?
Save the date: Wednesday March 11, 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM
What: a unique, day-long learning opportunity for service providers in Toronto’s AIDS service organizations and violence against women sectors
Where: 519 Community Centre, 519 Church Street, 2nd Floor Ballroom
You’ll learn about:
- What the laws in Canada say about sexual violence and HIV disclosure
- What service providers can do to support women and trans people dealing with violence and HIV
- Organizational policies and how it can impact women and trans people living with HIV
- Stories of women and trans people with lived experience
Come be a part of the conversation and network with other service providers! There is limited seating. Continental breakfast and lunch will be served.
Access: Wheelchair accessible space with gender neutral washrooms. Attendant care, ASL interpretation and note-taking will be provided.
