On April 16, METRAC hosted the first Toronto Safe City Committee with 45 diverse, engaged community members in attendance. They began the discussion on safety initiatives to prevent and reduce violence against women and vulnerable populations at high risk of physical and sexual violence in the city.
It’s clear that community members want to share their voice and build change on gender-based violence. The most exciting discussion and creative activity centred around what a safe Toronto for women and transgender individuals could look like.
Stay tuned for more developments about this initiative in the future.
