Girls for Safer Communities Project

Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada (GGC) recently received funding from Status of Women Canada to partner with METRAC to launch Girls for Safer Communities. This project focuses on leadership development, community involvement, and safety for girls and women involved in GGC programming. Community Safety Audits for girls across Canada will be developed and Pathfinders and Rangers will be trained to lead younger girls in conducting their own audits. Girls will then work with members of their local communities to make recommendations and implement changes to improve safety for everyone.

York University Safety Audit

Since June 2008, METRAC has been conducting an independent third-party safety audit of York University, in partnership with the university's Safety Audit Committee. As a result, shorter and longer term changes will be recommended for the physical and cultural environment of York University to make it safer for users and reduce opportunities for multiple forms of violence and crime. For more information, visit York University's website.
