METRAC Community Safety Program: Event Planning Volunteer

Description: Every year, United Nations (UN) Women designates 16 days starting from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day) as a call for action to end violence against women and girls.  METRAC: Action on Violence will host, THRIVE, a free event for women and Trans folks in the city of Toronto as part of the initiative to end gender based violence..

Available positions: 5

Time Required: November – January; volunteers will typically be asked to commit at least 3 hours weekly/bi-weekly (depending on the task)

Duties include:

  • Attend weekly planning meeting (in person or by phone)
  • Develop a registration template
  • supporting outreach plan
  • Outreach to find 10 additional volunteers for the event day
