Do you wish for a world without gender-based violence and have leadership skills and talent to join our Board of Directors and make this wish a reality?

METRAC is an award-winning not-for-profit agency devoted to ending gender-based violence across communities, through education, research, and policy. Our vision is “A Safe Ontario for Women. A Safe World for All”. METRAC works with individuals, communities, and institutions to change ideas, actions and policies towards the achievement of our mission. Our programs focus on public education and outreach, legal information resources, youth violence prevention and mentorship, and community safety. We produce and distribute print and online materials in multiple languages and accessible formats; and we lead community-based research and social policy initiatives to improve systemic responses to gendered violence. Our work is driven by values of: Equity, Respect, Safety, Excellence, Innovation, Feminisms and Collaboration.

We are searching for new members to volunteer on our Board of Directors who:

  • are committed, reliable, great communicators and team-players
  • have strong supportive leadership skills
  • will commit to a minimum of two years with 6 – 8 hours of board activities each month (e.g. meetings, correspondence, events)
  • have talent and experience in:
  • financial management/accounting
  • fund development/capital campaigns/social enterprise
  • communications and marketing
  • human resources
  • community/university-based research
  • real-estate/ facilities development
  • risk management
  • impact data specialization
  • social justice, human rights/anti-oppression/equity framework and policy
  • will support ongoing development of METRAC’s vision, strategic plan and policies
  • will use their ingenuity, connections and resources to support the organization’s violence prevention efforts

Note: previous board experience is an asset. Food, transportation and subsidized childcare expenses are provided, upon request.

Process:

  • Deadline for applications: October 19, 2017
  • Interview and decision on candidates: October 23-25, 2017
  • Annual General Meeting to vote in new members: October 30, 2017

Note: We are committed to the development of a Board of Directors that reflects the diversity of communities we serve. Applications are welcomed from people who identify as cisgender, transgender, gender queer and gender non-conforming folks, Indigenous women, young (18 +) and older women, racialized women, LGBTTIQQ2S rainbow communities, women with disabilities, and women who have lived experiences of poverty, or have experienced violence are strongly encouraged.
