Lorraine Klaasen will help METRAC celebrate 30 years of striving for a safe city and world at our Founders and Keepers Gala on Wednesday May 27, 2015 at Casa Loma Toronto. We are honoured to have her as a featured performer!

Klaasen is daughter of legendary South African Jazz singer Thandie Klaasen and a South African artist who has preserved the classic sound of “Township Music”. Born and raised in Soweto, Lorraine has electrified audiences worldwide with her dynamic stage presence and showmanship. Lorraine was influenced by South Africa’s musical giants of the 1950s and 1960s, including the talented and iconic Miriam Makeba. In February 2008, Klaasen released the album “Africa Calling”, which features bassist Bakhiti Khumalo (performed on Paul Simon’s Graceland). Her latest album, “A Tribute To Miriam Makeba”, includes original pieces and energetic renditions of classic and traditional folk songs.

Check out Lorraine Klaasen’s version of Makeba’s “Pata Pata” below.
