Attend a screening of "The Prison in Twelve Landscapes" with METRAC

Join METRAC for an afternoon at the movies on Thursday, November 24, from 3:30pm to 5:30pm for a viewing of “The Prison in Twelve Landscapes”. This movie explores the prison system in the United States and questions who gets policed and criminalized. Contact Gabrielle at communication@metrac.org before November 18 if you’d like to be part of our group booking, and access the Facebook event for more details on the screening.

This FREE event is organized by the Regent Park Film Festival, who is dedicated to showcasing local and international independent works relevant to people from all walks of life, with a focus on inviting those of us from low income and public housing communities. The films we present break stereotypes and show that no one place or person has just one story. Consult their website here.

Planning for a Community Hub - Vaughan Road Academy

METRAC is calling all community agencies with an interest in planning for the future of a new Community Hub space at Vaughan Road Academy, which may close in June 2017. The building is in mid-Toronto and includes an indoor pool, a large cafeteria and industrial kitchen, a gym, and a spacious auditorium and theatre space. Community organizations are invited to a roundtable discussion on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 529 Vaughan Road to explore options for community organizations seeking space to provide programs for seniors, youth, women’s services, and health promotion, to name a few. Please contact info@metrac.org if you are interested in attending to meet potential partners and to host an agency informational table.
